The Recent Files menu, also known as an MRU list (MRU stands for Most Recently Used) holds a set number of recently opened files, that list being updated and re-ordered automatically each time you open a project. Rather than having to go through the process of locating and selecting a recent project using the Open Project dialog, you can simply select the file from the Recent Files menu item:

Important: The MRU settings are controlled on a per machine basis via the Options dialog.
